On March 6th, 2022, RCVD has initiated a savings scheme ‘IKIMINA’ for veterinary professionals and para professionals to be able to sustain their financial needs and secure investments for other related income generating businesses.
The scheme was initiated in response to the expressed financial need among veterinarians, it will help them to access financial support of different categories to cover different needs like starting a clinic, pharmacy, and purchase required professional equipments, all at an affordable interest rate that is determined by themselves.
The RCVD National Council Board highlighted that bringing this initiative was mainly due to the current challenges veterinarians face that is mainly lack of financial capacity that hinders them to establish strong investments, therefore the step made is to find a solution from within, gathering over 4,000 professionals across the country in a saving scheme that will make it easy for them and it will make it easy when they want startup capital to establish businesses.
“This scheme comes along with a wide range of opportunities that include; building financial capacity of Veterinary professionals by strengthening their saving culture, access to soft loans with remarkably low interest rates and accessing big loans without providing own collateral since the scheme will establish its own guarantee fund that shall always act as a collateral for members.
Each member of the saving scheme will contribute a monthly saving of Rwf 10,000 minimum and Rwf 100,000 once in lifetime. The scheme will charge 7 percent interest rate over the loans given to members.
A savings account has been opened in URWEGO BANK, account number 1574924827 in the names of GERA KU ISONGA.
